Well, let me tell ya about this Robbie Avila fella and his NBA draft chances. Folks talkin’ about him gettin’ drafted. Now, I ain’t no fancy scout or nothin’, but I seen a game or two on the TV, ya know? He’s a big boy, they say 6 foot 10 and 240 pounds. That’s a lot of man!
He used to play for Indiana State, I heard, with that Schertz fella who’s now coachin’ at Saint Louis. And now Robbie’s goin’ to Saint Louis too. Followin’ his coach, smart move maybe. They say he was a “sensation” at Indiana State. Well, I don’t know about all that “sensation” stuff, but he must be alright if folks are talkin’ about him.
- He’s big, real big. Like I said, 6 foot 10. But he ain’t all muscle, see? They say he’s a little “doughy.” You know, soft. That might be a problem with them fast fellas in the NBA.
- He ain’t the fastest runner neither. I seen him on TV, he kinda shuffles along. Ain’t no quick feet there. NBA players, they gotta run up and down that court like chickens with their heads cut off.
- They say he’s got “versatility.” Fancy word, that. Means he can do lots of things I guess. Pass, shoot, maybe dribble some. That’s good, right?
Now, they talk about where he might get drafted. Some say second round. Some say he might not get drafted at all! Imagine that. All that talk and maybe he don’t even get picked. Poor fella.
He’s only 21 years old, though. Just a youngster, really. Maybe he’ll get stronger, faster. Maybe he’ll learn some new tricks. I hear he was born in September, that’s a good month. Maybe that means somethin’.

This whole “draft projection” thing, it’s all just guessin’ ain’t it? Nobody really knows. Like predictin’ the weather. You can say it’s gonna rain, but then the sun comes out.
They say he ain’t like that Garza fella from a while back. Garza was strong, they say. Robbie, he’s different. He’s gotta use what he’s got, not try to be somethin’ he ain’t.
Some folks online, they talk about him too. Call him funny names, I heard. Doesn’t matter much, I reckon. What matters is what happens on the court.
So, will he get drafted? I dunno. Maybe, maybe not. He’s big, he can play some, but he’s gotta work hard. Gotta get faster, stronger. Gotta show them NBA fellas he’s worth it.
It’s a tough world, the NBA. Lots of good players. Robbie’s gotta stand out, make a name for himself. He’s got a chance, I think. But it ain’t gonna be easy.
We’ll just have to wait and see. Maybe he’ll surprise us all. Maybe he’ll be the next big thing. Or maybe he’ll just be Robbie Avila, a fella who tried his best.
That’s all I gotta say about it. Just a regular fella, tryin’ to make it. We’ll see what happens.
