Alright, listen up y’all, let’s talk about this football stuff, the NFL, week 2, you know, the games they play on TV. They call it “coverage map” or somethin’. Sounds fancy, but it just means where you can watch the game, which channel and all that.
So, week 2, 2023, that was somethin’, right? Lots of games, lots of runnin’ around and thumpin’ each other. I don’t understand half of it, all them rules and flags, but I like watchin’ the boys go at it. Reminds me of the chickens back home, always peckin’ and chasin’ each other, ha!
Now, this here “coverage map” thing, it’s a big deal for folks who wanna watch their team play. See, not every game is on TV everywhere. It’s like, if you live way out in the sticks, you might not get the same channels as the city folks. Makes sense, I guess, more people in the city, more eyeballs watchin’.
I heard tell they got different channels, like CBS and FOX, and then there’s that ESPN thing too. And somethin’ called NFL Network. Too many channels if you ask me! Back in my day, we had one channel, maybe two if the weather was good, and that was it. We watched what was on, and we liked it, ha!

This week 2, there was some good games, I tell ya. Lots of close ones, some blowouts too. I saw one team, they were just runnin’ all over the place, couldn’t be stopped. Reminded me of my old mule, Betsy, once she got goin’, nothin’ could stop her neither.
But how do you know which game is on where? That’s where this here coverage map comes in. They got these fancy pictures online, showin’ which parts of the country get which game. It’s all color-coded and stuff, kinda like them maps they show on the news durin’ election time. Only instead of voting, it’s football.
- CBS games: Usually they got the AFC games, that’s one conference.
- FOX games: They mostly show the NFC games, that’s the other conference.
- Sunday Night Football: That one’s always on NBC, fancy time, under the lights.
- Monday Night Football: That’s on ESPN, starts late, kinda makes you sleepy.
I ain’t got no fancy computer or nothin’, but my grandson, he showed me this coverage map on his phone. It’s kinda neat, you can zoom in and see your area, see which game you get. He says it changes every week, dependin’ on which teams are playin’ and how good they are. Seems like a lot of work just to show some football games, but what do I know, ha!
Now, if your team ain’t on in your area, don’t you go frettin’. My grandson, he says there’s ways to watch ’em anyway. Somethin’ about “streamin’” and “apps” and such. Sounds like a bunch of hogwash to me, but the young folks, they seem to know what they’re doin’. I guess it’s like them radios back in the day, catchin’ signals from far away.
So, this week 2 coverage map, it’s important if you wanna watch your team play. Gotta know where to look, which channel to tune in to. And if you can’t watch it on TV, well, find yourself a young’un with a fancy phone, they’ll figure it out for ya.
And listen, don’t get too worked up about it if your team loses. It’s just a game, after all. Like my old pappy used to say, “There’s always next week.” And if they don’t win next week neither, well, there’s always next season. Plenty of time to watch more football, figure out them crazy coverage maps, and eat some good snacks.
One more thing. This whole “coverage map” thing, it ain’t the same everywhere. Different countries got different rules, different ways of showin’ the games. I heard tell in some places, they don’t even watch American football. Can you believe that? They’re missin’ out, I tell ya.
So that’s it, that’s the lowdown on this week 2, 2023, NFL coverage map thing. Hope you understand it better now. If not, well, just ask your grandkid, they’ll explain it to ya. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens.
