Okay, so today I wanna talk about this 3-ball golf bet thing I tried out recently. I’m not a pro or anything, but I do enjoy a good round of golf with my buddies. We’re always looking for ways to spice things up, you know, make it a little more interesting. That’s when we stumbled upon this 3-ball betting format.
So, here’s how it went down. First, we gathered a group of three players – me and two of my friends. We decided to give this 3-ball thing a shot. We all agreed on the stakes beforehand, just a friendly wager to keep things exciting. Nothing too crazy, just enough to make us pay a bit more attention to our shots.
The Game Begins
We headed to our local golf course. It was a sunny day, perfect for golf. We teed off on the first hole, each of us playing our own ball as usual. The catch with 3-ball betting is that you’re not just playing against the course or your overall score.
Instead, for each hole, we were only focused on beating the other two guys in our group. It’s like a mini-competition within each hole. So, on the first hole, I was really just trying to get a lower score than my two buddies.

- First Hole: I managed to par the first hole, one of my friends got a bogey, and the other landed in the rough and ended up with a double bogey. So, I won that hole in our little 3-ball bet.
We continued this for every hole throughout the round. Each hole was its own separate bet. If you had the lowest score among the three, you won that hole’s bet.
- Mid-Game: There were some close calls. On the 5th hole, two of us tied with birdies, so we had to invoke the “dead heat” rule. Basically, we split the pot for that hole. The third guy had a par, so he was out of luck on that one.
It was a real back-and-forth. Some holes I won, others I lost. The interesting part was that even if you had a bad hole overall, you could still win the 3-ball bet for that hole if your buddies did worse.
Final Tally
By the end of the round, we tallied up who won the most holes. The guy who won the most holes in our 3-ball bets was the overall winner of the day.
- Results: I ended up winning the most holes, so I took home the grand prize (bragging rights and a few bucks from my friends).
It was a fun way to play, I gotta say. It added an extra layer of competition without being too complicated. We’re definitely going to do it again. Maybe next time, we’ll up the stakes a little. We’ll see.
If you get a chance to try 3-ball betting, I say go for it. It’s a blast, especially if you’ve got a good group of friends who are up for a little friendly competition.
