Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this NFL survivor pool thing, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. I thought, “Hey, how hard can it be to pick one winning team each week?” Boy, was I wrong!
First off, I started by just looking at the schedule and picking the teams I thought were the best. You know, the big names, the ones everyone talks about. Bad idea. I got burned a couple of times early on because I didn’t really dig into the matchups. I learned that lesson the hard way.
Then, I started doing a little more research. I’d check out some websites, see what the so-called “experts” were saying, and try to make a more informed decision. This was definitely better, but it still felt like I was missing something. I was winning some, losing some, but not really getting ahead.
So, I decided to go full nerd on this thing. I started making this grid, a survivor pool grid for each week, listing all the games.

- I started looking at things like home-field advantage, injuries, and even the weather.
- I’d highlight the teams that seemed like the safest bets, but then I’d also try to think ahead.
- You can only pick a team once, right? So you don’t want to waste a great team on a week when they’re the only obvious choice.
This grid thing really helped me visualize the whole season. I started to see patterns, like which teams had tough stretches or easy stretches in their schedules. It was like putting together a puzzle. I even started to factor how many people in the pool might pick each team and use that to decide when to pick a favorite and when to go for a riskier pick.
The Results?
Well, I’m still no expert, but I’m definitely doing better. Using this grid and doing my homework each week has made a huge difference. I’m lasting longer in the pools, and I even managed to win a small one last season! It’s still a lot of luck, but at least now I feel like I’m making smarter picks. I feel so great that I even want to share this with my followers. Hope this will help some of you guys. Go and make your own grid!
