Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this fantasy football thing for a while now, and this year I really wanted to nail down my defense picks. It’s 2024, and let me tell you, figuring out the best defense is no joke. I started by just looking at some of the recent games, you know, to get a feel for who’s been hot and who’s not.
Then, I remembered this expert, Jared Smola. I heard he is the king of fantasy draft rankings, I don’t know how true that is. I just wanted to see what he had to say. I looked around to find some information about him, but I don’t remember where exactly. Anyway, he had this “Comeback Player of the Year” thing, and he picked Kupp in 2021 and Barkley in 2022. Sounds legit, right? He also has a so-called draft war room that syncs with your live draft.
I also checked out some simulations. These guys ran the NFL schedule like 10,000 times or something, trying to predict outcomes. I guess that’s one way to do it. They had these top picks for each position – QB, RB, you name it. It was a bit overwhelming, but I focused on the defense part. The Broncos caught my eye, they have scored 10 or more fantasy points in six of their 11 games. This is solid for fantasy.
After looking at all that, I started making my own list. I jotted down teams that seemed consistently good, like the Broncos, and a few others that had some killer games recently.

So, that’s basically what I did. I looked at expert opinions, some simulations, and my own observations from watching games. It’s all a bit of a guessing game, but I feel like I’ve got a decent list going into the season. Who knows how it’ll all play out, but that’s half the fun, right?
