Today, I want to talk about my little adventure with Liverpool and Hartland. It all started when I got this idea to combine my love for football with some local community stuff. I mean, who doesn’t love football, right? So, I began looking into what Liverpool’s all about. Turns out, it’s not just about the football club, but the place itself has a pretty cool history. I read that the name “Liverpool” comes from some Old English words, meaning “thick or muddy pool.” Who knew?
Then, I dug deeper into the football side of things. I found out about “Red Together,” which is basically Liverpool FC’s way of saying they’re all about equality and inclusion. Good on them! They call it part of “The Red Way.” Sounds like they’re trying to do things right, not just on the field, but off it too.
I also stumbled upon this thing called the “AXA Training Centre.” It’s where Liverpool trains their players. Seemed like a big deal, so I made a note to check it out sometime.
Getting into the Action

Now, how does Hartland fit into all of this? Well, I had this idea to bring some of that Liverpool magic to Hartland. I heard about this place called Hartland Heritage Park, and I thought, “Why not try to set something up there?”
- Planning Phase:
- I started by reaching out to some folks. I wanted to figure out if we could use Hartland Heritage Park for some football-related activities.
- Lots of phone calls, lots of back and forth. You know how it is.
- Finally, I got the green light! They were excited about the idea, which was great.
- Getting the Word Out:
- Next, I needed to let people know what was happening.
- I put up some flyers, made some calls, and spread the word around town.
- I even got in touch with Hartland United FC. Turns out they were keen to get involved, too.
- Making it Happen:
- We decided to organize a few training sessions at the park.
- Nothing too fancy, just a chance for people to come together, have a kickabout, and maybe learn a thing or two about football.
- The first session was a bit of a mess, to be honest. But we learned from our mistakes, and the next one was much better.
Looking Ahead
It’s still early days, but I’m pretty happy with how things are going. We’ve had a decent turnout at the training sessions, and people seem to be enjoying themselves. I’m hoping we can keep this going and maybe even expand it to other communities. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll have a whole network of little Liverpools all over the place!
It’s been a lot of work, but it’s also been a lot of fun. And it’s taught me that even the smallest idea can turn into something pretty cool if you’re willing to put in the effort.
What I’ve Learned
This whole experience has been a real eye-opener. First off, I’ve learned that you can’t be afraid to reach out to people. Most folks are happy to help, especially when it comes to community stuff. Secondly, I’ve realized that things don’t always go according to plan. And that’s okay! You just gotta roll with the punches and keep moving forward. Finally, I’ve seen firsthand how sports can bring people together. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from, everyone can enjoy a good game of football. And that’s what makes it all worthwhile.
