Alright, listen up, y’all. Let me tell ya ’bout this thing called the Emerald Coast Cup. Sounds fancy, huh? Don’t you go gettin’ all highfalutin on me now. It’s just a big ol’ soccer shindig, like them kids do be doin’ out in the field, kickin’ that ball around.
Now, from what I hear, it’s gonna be a big one. They sayin’ it’s open to all sorts of young’uns, from the little bitty ones, them U8s, all the way up to the near-grown ones, the U19s. Boys and girls, both. Imagine that! A whole heap of kids runnin’ around, chasin’ after that ball. Makes my head spin just thinkin’ ’bout it.
They’re tellin’ folks to get signed up, and quick! Says somethin’ ’bout securin’ your spot. Sounds important, I guess. Like gettin’ the best seat at the church picnic, only with more runnin’ and less fried chicken. You can sign up now and pay later, which sounds like a good deal to me. Lord knows, I ain’t got no money to be throwin’ around.
- They got this online check-in thing, whatever that is. Sounds complicated. Back in my day, you just showed up and they pointed you where to go. No fancy computers or nothin’.
- But I hear tell if you get stuck, you gotta email some fella named Zack. Zack somethin’-somethin’ at *. Hope that helps ya, ’cause it sure don’t help me none.
And listen to this, they’re gettin’ all worked up ’bout it. Sayin’ it’s just a few days away, and the excitement’s buildin’. Excitement? For a soccer game? Well, I guess kids these days get excited ’bout all sorts of things. Not like us old folks, who are just happy to have a roof over our heads and a warm cup of coffee.

They also got a bunch of these other cups, too. Trident Cup, Big Wave Classic, Apollo Cup… Sounds like a bunch of hooey to me. But I guess it keeps them kids busy, and out of trouble, hopefully. They say these cups are part of some kind of Premier League, like Central Florida, Emerald Coast, North Florida, and South East Florida. Too many places for this old woman to keep track of, I tell ya.
They’re sayin’ somethin’ ’bout loggin’ in and your information bein’ there already. Saves you from writin’ it all down again, I reckon. Sounds convenient enough, I s’pose. But if you ain’t logged in, well, then you gotta enter all your stuff. First name, last name, the whole shebang. Just like fillin’ out them forms at the doctor’s office, only maybe with less coughin’.
So there you have it. The Emerald Coast Cup. A big ol’ soccer thing for the young’uns. They’re gonna run around, kick that ball, and have themselves a time. And if they’re lucky, maybe they’ll even win one of them fancy cups. Me? I’ll stick to my porch swing and my sweet tea. That’s excitement enough for me.
Remember now, get them kids signed up if they wanna play. And if you need help, go find that Zack fella. He seems to know what’s goin’ on. As for me, I’m gonna go take a nap. All this talk about soccer has plum worn me out.
One last thing, they said somethin’ about no check-in on Saturday. Don’t ask me why, maybe they all go fishin’ or somethin’. You figure it out.
