Alright, alright, let’s talk about this Jalin Conyers fella, the one they say might go to the NFL. Now, I ain’t no football expert, mind you. I just watch the games sometimes when the cows ain’t acting up and the chores are done. But I hear tell he’s a big ol’ boy, 6-foot-4 they say. That’s taller than my corn stalks in July!
This Conyers kid, he’s from Gruver, Texas. Now, I ain’t never been to Gruver, but I reckon it’s a small town. Probably got more cows than people, just like where I come from. He plays tight end, whatever that is. Sounds like somethin’ you’d use to tie up a fence, but I guess it’s important in football.
- He’s a big fella, like I said. 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds. That’s a lot of beef!
- They say he’s a senior, so I guess he’s been playin’ this football for a while now.
- He went to Arizona State, that’s a big college, ain’t it? Fancy learnin’ and all that.
They say he’s a “valuable weapon.” Well, I’ll be! Sounds like he’s good at catchin’ the ball or somethin’. I reckon that’s important in football. You gotta catch the ball to score, right? Seems like common sense to me.
Now, this “NFL draft” thing, that’s where the big city teams pick the college boys to play for them. They pay ’em a whole lot of money, more than I’ve seen in my whole life, I bet. And they say this Conyers fella might get picked early. That means he’s real good, I guess. Good enough to make the big bucks.

Folks are talkin’ about him bein’ a “multi-year starter.” That means he’d play for a long time, not just sit on the bench. And they say he’s got “all-league potential.” Sounds fancy. Means he could be one of the best, I reckon. Like the cream of the crop, the biggest pumpkin in the patch.
Some folks think he could be an “early round NFL draft pick.” That’s the best, see? The earlier you get picked, the more money you make, and the better team you play for. It’s like pickin’ the best tomatoes in the garden first, ‘cause they the ripest and juiciest.
He was a first-team all-district back in 2018. Now, I don’t know what district that is, but bein’ “first-team” sounds pretty good to me. Like bein’ the head rooster in the henhouse. He’s been workin’ hard, that’s for sure. You don’t get to the NFL by sittin’ on your backside and eatin’ bonbons all day.
This Conyers boy, he come from a small town, just like a lot of good folks. He worked hard, went to college, and now he’s got a chance to make it big. That’s the American dream, ain’t it? Work hard, play hard, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll get to live the good life. I hope he does well. He seems like a good kid, this Jalin Conyers. Reminds me of my grandson, always runnin’ around, full of energy. Maybe one day, I’ll see him playin’ on that there TV. That’d be somethin’ else, wouldn’t it?
So, that’s the story on this Jalin Conyers fella. Big boy, plays tight end, might go to the NFL, and make a whole lotta money. Sounds like he’s doin’ alright for himself. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on them chickens. They’re probably gettin’ into somethin’ they shouldn’t be, just like always.
