Well, now, folks, let me tell ya somethin’ about the 2024 WNBA season. It ain’t just the players out there on the court that’s catchin’ people’s eyes, but them jerseys too! Yep, them jerseys and all the stuff you can buy with a player’s name on it, like T-shirts and hats, is flyin’ off the shelves like nobody’s business. You wouldn’t believe it, but it’s true!
Now, this season, there’s one player who’s makin’ a whole lotta noise – Caitlin Clark. I reckon you’ve heard her name buzzin’ ’round. The young gal’s really been stirrin’ things up. So much so that her jersey sales are takin’ the top spot. You can see folks walkin’ ’round in them jerseys everywhere, and I ain’t kiddin’ when I say they’re hard to find ’cause they sell out so quick!
Folks like to talk about numbers, don’t they? Well, let me tell ya about them sales numbers. From last season to this one, WNBA merchandise sales have gone up, oh, by a whopping 236%! That’s a huge jump! And don’t even get me started on them rookie numbers. Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are makin’ waves, and their jerseys are top sellers. If ya wanna get one of those jerseys, you better be quick about it, ’cause they’re flyin’ off the racks faster than you can say “slam dunk!”
It ain’t just the jerseys though, no sir. T-shirts with players’ names on ‘em have also seen a huge rise in sales, up by more than 1,000%. Folks are showin’ their support for their favorite players, and you can see it everywhere. A’ja Wilson, Sabrina Ionescu – all big names, all big sellers. But right now, Caitlin Clark’s at the top of the heap, and she ain’t lookin’ back!
The games themselves are gettin’ more popular too. Ain’t nobody missin’ a chance to watch a game. This year, the WNBA has had a whole mess of sellout games – 154 of ’em! That’s a 242% jump from last year! And it ain’t just the number of games, it’s the number of folks sittin’ in them seats. The average attendance for a game this season is 9,807 folks. That’s a whole lotta people turnin’ up to watch these gals play some ball.
One thing’s for sure, the WNBA’s been growin’ faster than anyone expected. And it ain’t just in the stands, it’s all across the board – from merchandise sales to TV ratings. This year, the WNBA had the most-watched regular season ever on ESPN. And I ain’t talkin’ ‘bout a few extra folks tuning in. I mean, 1.19 million folks watched on average! That’s a whole lotta eyes on the game, and more folks are catchin’ on every day.
If you’ve been watchin’ this year, you know it’s not just about Caitlin Clark. There’s Angel Reese, who’s hot on her heels in jersey sales, and A’ja Wilson, the top scorer this season, always bringin’ in the crowds. Don’t forget Sabrina Ionescu either! All these gals are sellin’ like hotcakes, and it’s good to see the WNBA gettin’ the attention it deserves.
But, let me tell ya, them jersey sales are just the tip of the iceberg. With how this season’s been goin’, I reckon the WNBA is just gettin’ started. We ain’t seen nothin’ yet! So, if you wanna show your support, don’t wait too long to get yourself a jersey. ‘Cause if you blink, they’ll be sold out faster than a tumbleweed blowin’ through a dry field.
