Okay, so let me tell you about this soccer tournament I went to in Hammonton, NJ. It was a bit of a drive, but hey, what’s a weekend without some adventure, right?
First off, I gotta say, getting registered was a breeze. I just filled in some online forms, and boom, I was in. They had it open for different age groups, and it looked like it was part of some “EDP Summer Series” thing. I saw online that they were calling it the “EDP Fall Classic,” which is kind of a cool name, I guess. Makes it sound all official and important.
The Drive and Arrival
- Headed out early Saturday morning. Traffic was surprisingly light.
- Got to Hammonton, this little town in New Jersey. Never been there before.
- Found the soccer fields easily enough. Plenty of parking, which was a plus.
The tournament itself was pretty intense. There were teams from all over New Jersey, and let me tell you, these kids were good. The games were fast-paced, lots of running, lots of action. It was definitely competitive, but everyone seemed to be having a good time, you know? I saw a banner that said “Hammonton Soccer” and mentioned something about spring registration being open. Looked like a pretty active soccer community.
The Games and Atmosphere
- Watched a bunch of games. Some were real nail-biters, down to the wire.
- The atmosphere was buzzing. Parents cheering, coaches shouting, kids giving it their all.
- Grabbed a hot dog and a soda from a food stand. Classic tournament food.
I stuck around for most of the day, just soaking it all in. They had these age brackets, like U15, U17, U19 for both boys and girls. It was a whole weekend thing, with the boys playing on Saturday, as far as I recall. I also saw they were planning to send out updates via emails and texts, which is pretty handy.
Honestly, it was a pretty fun day out. Good soccer, good vibes, and a nice little road trip. If you’re into soccer, or just looking for something to do on a weekend, I’d say check out one of these tournaments. It’s a good time. You can even pick up some “Hammonton Soccer gear” at a place called “Showcase Sports,” apparently. It was a good show, seeing those young players give it their all. That’s what I remember most.
