Well, let me tell ya about this Greater Portland City League Tennis. It’s somethin’ for the gals, ya know? Gotta be 19 or older, no spring chickens allowed. They got all sorts of teams, like A, B, C, all the way to K. That’s a lot of letters, ain’t it?
Now, them Lake Oswego Tennis Center, they got seven teams. Seven! That’s a whole bunch, if ya ask me. These ladies, they play competitive, real serious like. It ain’t just hittin’ balls over the net, no sir. They got divisions, schedules, rosters, standings. All that fancy stuff. Makes my head spin just thinkin’ about it.
They play matches on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Some play in the mornin’, from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm. The A to F teams, they play on Wednesdays. The G to K teams, they play on Tuesdays. Gotta keep it straight, ya know?

This whole City League thing, it’s run by a board. Bunch of players from different places, they make the rules. They got bylaws, handbooks, documents, forms. All kinds of papers. And they got board meetin’ minutes too. Sounds important.
They got this calendar thing too. Tells ya when they playin’. And they got drivin’ directions, so ya don’t get lost tryin’ to find the matches. That’s good, ’cause some folks can’t find their way outta paper bag.
The divisions, that’s how they sort the teams. Like I said, A to K. Ya pick a division and ya see the schedules, rosters, standings. Makes it easy to follow, I guess. If ya wanna know who’s winnin’, ya look at the standings. Simple as that.
This City League, it’s a big deal for these women. They get to play, compete, have some fun. Get outta the house, ya know? Keeps ’em busy. And it’s good exercise too. Runnin’ around, hittin’ them balls. Better than sittin’ on the couch all day, watchin’ them soap operas.
2024 Greater Portland City League Tennis. That’s what they call it. They got all the rights reserved, whatever that means. Sounds official. Like nobody else can do what they do.
So, if you’re a woman, 19 or older, and ya like playin’ tennis, this City League might be for you. Go on, give it a try. Nothin’ to lose. Might make some new friends, have some laughs. And who knows, ya might even win a match or two.
This City League, it’s been around for a while. Gives the ladies somethin’ to do. Keeps ’em active. And that’s a good thing, ain’t it? Better than sittin’ around, doin’ nothin’. So, go on, check it out. See what all the fuss is about. Ya might just like it.
