Okay, so, I’ve been trying to up my tennis game lately, and I thought, why not try to hit the fastest serve ever? I mean, how hard could it be, right? Turns out, it’s pretty darn hard!
I started by watching some videos of the pros. You know, the big names like Sam Groth, who apparently hit a 163.7 mph serve once! That’s insane! I also looked at guys like John Isner and Milos Raonic, who are known for their crazy fast serves. I figured if I could just copy what they do, I’d be golden.
So, I went out to the court and started practicing. First, I worked on my stance, trying to get that wide base and the right angle. Then, it was all about the toss. I tossed that ball up in the air a million times, trying to get it just right, not too high, not too low.
Next came the swing. Man, this was tough! I swung my racket as hard as I could, trying to generate as much power as possible. I tried to mimic the way the pros rotated their bodies, using their legs and core to really drive the ball. I must have looked like a windmill out there, flailing around. I even tried to copy that little grunt they do when they hit the ball.

I kept at it for days, hitting serve after serve. My arm started to feel like it was going to fall off, but I didn’t give up. I measured my serve speed with one of those radar gun things, but my fastest was only around 90 mph.
- Day 1: I was pumped and full of energy. I practiced for hours, but my serves were all over the place. Top speed: 75 mph. Ouch.
- Day 2: My arm was killing me, but I pushed through. I focused on my technique and actually started to see some improvement. Top speed: 82 mph.
- Day 3: I started to feel like I was getting the hang of it. My serves were more consistent, and I was hitting them harder. Top speed: 88 mph.
- Day 4: I was determined to break 90 mph. And you know what? I did it! Top speed: 91 mph.
- Day 5: I felt like I hit a wall. My serves were still around 90 mph, but I couldn’t seem to get them any faster.
I realized that hitting a record-breaking serve was way harder than I thought. I’m not giving up though. I’m going to keep practicing and see if I can get that speed up. Maybe I’ll never hit 163.7 mph, but I bet I can at least break 100 mph. Or maybe 95? We’ll see! I’ll keep you guys posted. And hey, if any of you have any tips on how to hit a faster serve, let me know in the comments!
Realization:
After all that, I realized that those pro tennis players are on a whole other level. It takes years of practice and dedication to hit serves like that. I have a newfound respect for them, that’s for sure!
