Well, let me tell ya, Carteret County is sure busy with sports these days! Folks here, they love their games, and no matter the weather, there’s always somethin’ goin’ on. From football to basketball, you can bet your boots, Carteret County ain’t sittin’ still.
Now, let’s start with the big news – them Patriots, bless their hearts, they’re marchin’ right on through the third round for the third year in a row! That’s some mighty fine playin’, I tell ya. They been workin’ hard, and it sure shows. Every time I see ‘em, I get a feelin’ that this year, they might just go all the way. Ain’t that somethin’ to be proud of? I reckon so!
Then, there’s them rainy days, which seem to pop up outta nowhere here in Carteret County. September 16th, we had ourselves a good ole’ downpour, but it didn’t stop folks from enjoyin’ the Beaufort Fourth of July Parade. It’s a bit funny, that parade happenin’ so late, but folks in Beaufort sure know how to put on a show. All the floats, the music, and the fun – it don’t matter if it’s rainin’, the spirit stays high!
Now, let’s talk about basketball. Now, this was a game to remember. The West Carteret girls’ team, they sure showed their grit. They went and played a triple overtime game against Swansboro, and when it was all said and done, they came out on top. I been watchin’ basketball for many years, and let me tell ya, that was some of the finest playin’ I’ve seen. You could feel the tension in the air, and when the final buzzer went off, you could hear all the folks hollerin’ and cheerin’ from here to the next county over!
And if you’re wonderin’ about those Mariners, well, they had their own bit of glory too. Camdyn Ensminger, I hear, did a right fine job out there. The Mariners may not always get the spotlight like them Patriots, but they got some talent on that team, no doubt about it. Carteret County’s got some real sports stars in the makin’, and it’s good to see ’em gettin’ the recognition they deserve.
Now, I know not everyone’s all that into sports, but if you ask me, it’s what keeps this town runnin’. These games, these kids playin’, it brings folks together, and that’s somethin’ that can’t be beat. Whether it’s a football game on a Friday night or a rainy day basketball match, it makes folks come outta their houses, meet up with neighbors, and just have a good time. It’s the heart of Carteret County, if you ask me.
