Alright, so you wanna know about this baseball fella, Edd, huh? Sounds like one of them crossword puzzle things my grandkid’s always fiddlin’ with. Can’t say I know much about baseball, always seemed like a lot of runnin’ around for nothin’ to me. But I can tell ya what I heard, ya know, the things folks chatter about.
So, this Edd fella, they say he’s some big shot in baseball, made it to somethin’ called the “Hall of Fame.” Hall of Fame, sounds fancy, I reckon. Probably got his picture up on a wall somewhere, maybe with a shiny plaque and all. Folks sure do like makin’ a fuss over them sports stars.
Now, from what I gather, this Edd fella’s name pops up in them crossword puzzles all the time. People scratchin’ their heads, tryin’ to figure out how many letters and all that. Seems like a silly way to spend your time, if you ask me, but to each their own, I always say. They got these clues, see, like “Baseball Hall-of-Famer Edd.” And then you gotta fill in the little boxes with his name.
- They say his name is short, somethin’ like five letters or so. ROUSH, that’s it! That’s what I heard them sayin’. R-O-U-S-H. Sounds like a funny name, doesn’t it? Not like John or Mary or somethin’ simple.
- And he played a long time ago, they say. Not like these young fellas nowadays with their fancy haircuts and shiny cars. This Edd fella, he was from the old days, when baseball was…well, I don’t know what it was like, but they say it was different.
They got all sorts of these crossword puzzles, see? Some are easy, some are hard. Some are in the newspapers, some are in books. My grandkid, she’s got books full of ‘em. Spends hours starin’ at them little squares. I tell her, “Go outside and play, girl! Get some sunshine on your face!” But she just shakes her head and keeps on scribblin’.

And this Edd fella, he’s a popular one. Seems like his name is always poppin’ up. Popular, like them movie stars, I guess. Folks seem to remember him, even though he played way back when. Must’ve been pretty good, I reckon. You don’t get into no Hall of Fame by bein’ a slouch, that’s for sure.
I heard some folks talkin’ about “Early Baseball Hall-of-Famer Edd”. So, he wasn’t just any Hall-of-Famer, he was one of the early ones. That means he played a real long time ago, when things were probably a whole lot different. Maybe they didn’t even have those fancy gloves and helmets back then. Maybe they just used their bare hands and hoped for the best. Sounds kinda dangerous, if you ask me.
So, if you’re doin’ one of them crossword puzzles and you see “Baseball Hall of Famer Edd,” you just remember that name: ROUSH. Five letters, R-O-U-S-H. And don’t you go askin’ me about baseball stats or nothin’, ‘cause I don’t know nothin’ about that. I just know what I hear, ya know, the bits and pieces that folks drop here and there.
Anyways, I gotta go now. Got chores to do, can’t be sittin’ here all day jawin’ about baseball. But I hope that helped ya with your crossword thingamajig. And remember, ROUSH. That’s the name. Don’t forget it now!
And you know, this Edd, from what I hear he must have been a tough fella playin that baseball stuff so long ago . Back then, they didn’t have all the fancy stuff to protect them like they do now. They just went out there and played hard, that’s how my grandpa told it was like anyway back in the good ole days.
Now go on and finish that crossword; Lord knows I have things to attend to.
