Man, I’ve been a Liverpool fan for as long as I can remember. My dad got me into them when I was a kid, and I’ve been bleeding red ever since. But living in Ann Arbor, Michigan, it’s not always easy to find fellow supporters. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands and organize some local events for the fans in the area.
First thing I did was look for a good spot to host tryouts for a local team. I found this place, Hubbard Field, right in Ann Arbor. It’s a decent field, and it’s pretty central, so it’s easy for people to get to. I also checked out Heritage Park in Hartland, just in case we needed a backup or wanted to do something a bit further out.
Then, I got to work on organizing some actual soccer programming. I figured we needed something for the younger fans, too, so I set up a “Mini Reds” thing for kids aged 4-10. It’s all about having fun and getting them into the sport early. We’re also doing a “Reds Junior Academy” for the same age group, but it’s a bit more serious, you know, for the kids who really want to develop their skills.
- Check out local field availability.
- Organize tryouts for different age groups.
- Set up youth development programs.
- Register teams for the upcoming season.
Next, I started reaching out to people to see if they were interested in joining a team for the 2024/25 season. We’re looking at forming teams for pretty much all age groups, from U7 all the way up to U19. That’s kids born between 2018 and 2007, so we’ve got a wide range covered.

Recruiting Players and Building the Community
I’ve been posting on social media, talking to people at local soccer games, and just generally trying to get the word out. The response has been pretty good so far! We’ve got a few spots open for the 2012 and 2011 boys’ teams, so if you know anyone who might be interested, send them my way.
It’s been a lot of work, but it’s also been really rewarding. It’s awesome to see so many people in Ann Arbor who are just as passionate about Liverpool as I am. We’re building a real community here, and I’m excited to see where it goes. I mean, who knows, maybe one day we’ll have a whole network of Liverpool fan clubs all across Michigan! That’s the dream, anyway. Up the Reds!
All in all, I successfully organized events for Liverpool fans in Ann Arbor, from tryouts and youth programs to team registrations and community building. And that is it!
