Now, let me tell ya about Sara Scalia. This girl played basketball real good, but somehow, she didn’t get picked in the 2024 WNBA draft. Ain’t that somethin’? She’s from Indiana, played for the Hoosiers, and was real good at it too. Folks thought she would get picked for sure, but come draft day, her name never came up. People were shocked, you know? She was an All-Big Ten player, one of the best on her team. How could she not get picked?

She finished her last season at Indiana real strong, with her team reachin’ the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. That’s big stuff! She averaged 16.3 points a game, grabbed about 3.8 rebounds, and handed out 2.4 assists per game. Those are some mighty fine numbers if you ask me. She was also one of the best three-point shooters around. When she had that ball at the three-point line, you knew somethin’ good was about to happen.
But still, even with all that, nobody called her name in the draft. Now, I don’t know how that works exactly, but it sure seems like she should have been drafted. You’d think teams would be jumpin’ at the chance to pick someone who could shoot threes like her. Guess them WNBA teams didn’t see what she had to offer, and that’s a real shame.
Now don’t go thinkin’ that’s the end of the road for her though. Nope, not at all. There’s a team in Italy, called Magnolia Campobasso, that saw how good she is. They wanted her to come play for them, and now she’s all set to play there for the 2024-2025 season. Looks like Europe knows how to spot talent, even if the WNBA didn’t.
Scalia might not have gotten into the WNBA, but she’s not lettin’ that stop her. She’s still playin’ the game she loves, just in a different place. I reckon she’s gonna do real well over in Italy. Them folks over there are gonna be real glad they got her. She might even come back better, who knows? All I know is that girl’s got somethin’ special, and it’s only a matter of time before more folks see it.
Sometimes life throws you a curveball, but you just gotta keep goin’. Sara Scalia’s doin’ just that, movin’ on and keepin’ her head up high. She’s gonna keep playin’, keep shootin’ them threes, and keep showin’ the world what she can do.
