Okay, so, today I wanted to make this golf tiger shirt, right? I’m not really into golf, but I just saw this cool design and thought, “Why not?” So, I started looking around for what kind of fabric I should use.
First off, I didn’t want something stiff and uncomfortable. I remembered reading somewhere that those polyester blend things are good. They said something about it being stretchy, especially when you mix in some spandex. It sounded good to me because, you know, even though I don’t golf, I still want to move around easily.
I went to this fabric store near my place. I was digging through a bunch of rolls. I’m not a pro at this, but I found this one fabric that was mostly polyester with a bit of spandex. The label said it was about 90% polyester and 10% spandex. It felt pretty soft and stretchy, so I grabbed a few yards.
Then, there’s the whole thing about what color or design. I wanted something a bit flashy, kind of like that “Sunday red” thing Tiger used to wear. I found this design online, it was a simple tiger head, and I thought it looked pretty cool. I printed it out as a transfer.

Making the Shirt
Here’s where the actual work started:
- First, I pre-washed the fabric. I heard that’s important to do so it doesn’t shrink later.
- Then, I cut out the shirt pieces. I just used an old shirt I had as a pattern. I’m not about to buy some fancy pattern.
- I ironed on the tiger transfer onto the front piece. It was a bit tricky, but I got it on there.
- Sewing was next. I don’t have one of those fancy machines, just an old one I got from my grandma. It took a while, but I sewed the pieces together.
- Last thing was hemming the edges. I just folded them over and sewed a straight line. Not perfect, but it works.
The shirt turned out alright! It’s comfortable, the design looks okay, and it stretches like I wanted it to. I wore it out the other day, and a couple of people asked me where I got it. I just told them, “Oh, I made it myself.” They were pretty surprised.
So, that’s my little project. It wasn’t too hard, and now I have a custom shirt. I might try making other stuff later. Maybe something with a different design. We’ll see.
