It’s Sunday again, and you know what that means – it’s Week 1 of the NFL season! I always get pumped for this time of year. This time, I planned to figure out which games are on in my area, ’cause, you know, they always show different games in different places. This is my whole process of figuring it out.
So, first things first, I gotta know what’s up with the regional coverage. It’s not like the primetime games which everyone gets to see. These Sunday afternoon games are sliced and diced based on where you live. The NFL app is a good place to start checking scores, and the NFL Channel. I have used them, and they are free. But for watching, a paid subscription is needed.
After checking the free resources, I grabbed my laptop and started digging around. You can actually watch games from the NFL on CBS schedule live on your local CBS station. Turns out, every non-primetime game each week is either on CBS or FOX. It’s usually 1 p.m. ET or around 4 p.m. ET for kickoff. This is how I confirmed this information.
Then I focused on specific channels. Seems like the NFL Network is gonna have a bunch of games on Saturday. That’s good to know. For Sunday, it’s mostly FOX and CBS showing the games, but it depends on your local market. NBC is airing Commanders vs. Falcons on Sunday Night Football.

I also found out something interesting. You can stream the NFL on CBS games live with Paramount+ if they’re carried by your local CBS station. That’s pretty cool, I might look into that for when I’m not at home.
- Checked out the NFL app and NFL Channel for general info and live game day coverage.
- Confirmed that non-primetime games are on CBS or FOX at 1 p.m. ET or around 4 p.m. ET.
- Discovered that NFL Network airs Saturday’s games.
- Learned that Sunday’s games are split between FOX and CBS based on local markets, with NBC showing the Sunday Night Football game.
- Found out about streaming NFL on CBS games with Paramount+.
So yeah, that’s my little adventure figuring out the NFL Week 1 regional coverage map. Not too complicated, but it took a bit of digging. Now I’m all set to catch the games I wanna see this weekend. Hopefully, my team will play in my area. Go football!
