Okay, so I’ve been trying to really amp up my tennis game lately, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I’ve been focusing on my serve because, let’s be honest, a killer serve can totally change the game. I wanted to see if I could hit the hardest tennis serve, not professionally, just for my personal best.
I started by watching some videos online. There’s this guy, Sam Groth, who apparently hit a serve at 263 km/h! That’s insane, right? I mean, I know I’m not gonna get anywhere near that, but it’s cool to know what’s possible.
Then I started hitting the court almost every other day. I started with my usual serving motion, trying to increase my power gradually. I remembered that some guys also look at just the speed of the serves. My initial serves were not even close to fast. I realized pretty quickly that just swinging harder wasn’t going to cut it. I had to work on my technique.
- First, I tried to improve my stance. I made sure my feet were positioned correctly and that I was balanced.
- Second, I focused on my toss. A good toss is crucial for a good serve. I practiced tossing the ball high and slightly in front of me, so I could get a good swing.
- Third, I worked on my swing. I tried to keep my arm relaxed and focused on hitting through the ball rather than just at it. I paid attention to where I was making contact and tried to hit the ball at the highest point possible.
I brought my basic measuring tool to measure my serve speed, and kept practicing. It was tough, and I wasn’t seeing much improvement at first. But I kept at it, focusing on the technique and trying to generate more power from my legs and core.

Slowly but surely, I started to see some progress. I could feel the difference in my serves. They were not just faster but also more consistent. They were landing in more often, and with more pace.
After a few weeks, I decided to measure my serve speed again. I was hitting serves that were significantly faster than when I started. I was so pumped! I still remember the day I hit my fastest serve. I had been having a great serving session, feeling really locked in, and then I hit this one serve that just felt different. It felt like all the power from my body was transferred perfectly into the ball. And guess what? It was the fastest serve I had ever hit. Not record-breaking or anything, but for me, it was a huge achievement. I learned that hitting the hardest serve isn’t just about brute strength. It’s about technique, timing, and practice.
Finally…
Even though I was just an amateur player, I realized the pros make it look so easy. My experience of practicing my serves had been incredibly tiring. It made me gain newfound respect for tennis pros like Sam Groth, John Isner, and Roger Federer. They must have put in countless hours to perfect their serves. Anyway, it’s been a fun experiment. I’m not sure I’ll ever hit a serve like the pros, but I’m definitely going to keep trying to improve. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll hit that perfect serve.
