Well, let me tell you, I heard there’s gonna be a big ol’ soccer tournament in Foley, Alabama in 2024. My grandbaby, bless his heart, he’s all about that soccer. Runs around like a chicken with its head cut off, kickin’ that ball. Says he wants to go see this Foley Alabama soccer tournament 2024. I told him, “Boy, you better start savin’ your pennies!”
This thing, it’s called different names. I hear folks call it the Coastal Academy Cup, and it’s gonna be in November. I think it is November 16-17, that sounds right. They’ve been doin’ this for a long time it seems, like 40 years or somethin’. That’s older than my oldest boy, bless his soul.
Then there’s another one they call the Coastal Soccer Invitational. Sounds fancy, don’t it? Used to be called the Gulf Coast Invitational, I reckon. They say it’s the oldest and biggest one around these parts. That’s somethin’, ain’t it? All them young’uns runnin’ around, kickin’ that ball in Foley, Alabama. It’s a big deal, I reckon, this Foley soccer tournament. My bones are gettin’ tired just thinkin’ about it!
And get this, there’s another one called the Big Wave Classic. Sounds like somethin’ you’d see out in California, with them surfers and all. But nope, it’s right here in Foley. Oh, and there’s another one, the Sun Belt Women’s Soccer Championship. That’s gonna be in Foley too, from November 4th to November 9th, 2024. Sounds like a whole week of soccer! Lord have mercy, that’s a lot of runnin’ around. I bet those girls are tough as nails.
That Foley soccer complex must be somethin’ else. Probably got all sorts of fields and lights and whatnot. I remember when my kids were young, they just played in a cow pasture.
