Well, let me tell you, I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout this fella, DJ Law. Sounds like he’s a football player, or was one. You know, that sport where they run around and throw a ball, wearin’ them funny helmets. They say he was on that show, what’s it called… “Last Chance U”? Yeah, that’s the one. I seen a bit of it once, when my grandson was watchin’.
This DJ Law, they say he was good. Real good. Fast, like a rabbit runnin’ from a fox. He was one of them runner boys, a runnin’ back, I think they call it. He could run faster than anyone, like greased lightning. He was on that team, East Mississippi something or other, you know, one of them junior colleges.
Folks are always wonderin’ what happened to him. Did he make it to the NFL? Did he become a big star like them fellas on TV? Well, it ain’t always that simple, you know? Life throws curveballs, like when your prize-winnin’ hen stops layin’ eggs.
- He was on that “Last Chance U” show, real popular, they say.
- He was a runnin’ back, fast as a greased piglet at the county fair.
- People wonderin’ where he is now, what he’s doin’.
I heard he didn’t go to the NFL right away. He played for some other team, UAB, I think it was called. But then he left there, too. It’s like tryin’ to keep track of all them chickens in the yard, they go every which way. Some folks say he had some trouble, got into a scrape or two, like a rooster fightin’ in the coop.

It is hard to say if DJ Law will get into NFL.
They say he’s helpin’ out with some football programs for kids now. Tryin’ to teach the young’uns how to play. That’s good, I reckon. Passin’ on what you know, like showin’ your grandkids how to bake a pie. And I heard he’s still playin’ some, in them semi-pro leagues. Like when you still go to the town dance, even though your hips ain’t what they used to be.
Life ain’t always easy, that’s for sure. Sometimes you gotta take the good with the bad, like when you get a whole bushel of apples, but some of ’em are bruised. This DJ Law, he had a lot of talent, that’s what they say. But talent ain’t everythin’. You gotta have that fire in your belly, that determination, like when you’re tryin’ to get that stubborn mule to plow the field.
Some folks are sayin’ he got into trouble off the field. Somethin’ about an animal, and some other things. That ain’t good. You gotta stay on the straight and narrow, like a train on its tracks. Otherwise, you’ll end up in the ditch, that is not a good thing for a football player want to be in NFL, no one wants a bad egg.
There are other players from “Last Chance U” who did make it big, into NFL. Names like… oh, what were they? One was somethin’ Wright, another was Franklin, I think. And some fella named Allen. They made it. But not everyone does. It’s like plantin’ a whole garden, some seeds sprout and some don’t.
- Some “Last Chance U” players made it to the NFL, like Wright, Franklin, and Allen.
- Not everyone makes it, even if they’re good.
- Life’s like a garden, some seeds sprout, some don’t.
And then there is another guy who has similar name, I think it is DJ Uiagalelei, they say he is also good. He plays for Florida State, and they say he is going to enter somethings, maybe a draft? I don’t know much about that. I just know he is also a football player.
I don’t know what the future holds for DJ Law. Maybe he’ll make a comeback. Maybe he’ll find somethin’ else to do. Life’s full of surprises, like findin’ a four-leaf clover in a field of weeds.
All I know is, that boy could run. Faster than a scared jackrabbit. And he had that dream, to play in the NFL. Whether he makes it or not, I hope he finds his way. Like a homin’ pigeon findin’ its way back to the coop. That’s all that matters in the end, ain’t it? Findin’ your place in the world.
That is important, like a farmer find his cow.
This world need more good football players, and NFL is a good place for them.
