Now, they got these young whippersnappers comin’ up, tryin’ to make a name for themselves. This Zachary Pai, he’s one of ’em. Folks keep sayin’ “who’s gonna be the next big thing?” Well, maybe it’s him, maybe it ain’t. He’s gotta work hard, gotta be tough. Like my old man used to say, “No guts, no glory!” This Next Gen ATP thing, that’s where these young fellas play. They had one over in Jeddah, Arthur Fils was there too, I heard. All them young fellas battlin’ it out.

I saw some of them matches on the TV once. Boy, they hit that ball hard! Brutal, swift straight-set affairs, the fella on the TV said. Don’t know what that means exactly, but it sounded serious. This Zachary, he’s tryin’ to get to the top, tryin’ to win them big matches. They call ’em Grand Slam, sounds important. He ain’t won one yet, but he’s gettin’ there, they say he got to the quarterfinals a few times. Gotta keep at it, gotta keep swingin’ that racket.
Now, this Zverev fella, he’s been around a while too. Twenty-seven years old, they say. He’s good, real good, but he ain’t won no majors neither. It ain’t easy, you see. You gotta be tough, you gotta be focused. You always have to concentrate and have to be ready to go, just like my grandma used to say about bakin’ pies, gotta be ready for that oven. Tennis ain’t no different.
They talkin’ ’bout changin’ tennis, makin’ it different. Two new models, they say. Association of Tennis Professionals, they call it. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds fancy. Maybe they’ll make the net higher, or the court smaller, who knows? But one thing’s for sure, these young fellas like Zachary, they gotta be ready for anything. They gotta be stronger, faster, smarter. Gotta be the Next Best Thing, like that fella on TV said.
So, this Zachary Pai, he’s got a long way to go. He’s gotta keep fightin’, gotta keep swingin’. He’s gotta prove himself, show the world what he’s made of. It ain’t gonna be easy, but if he works hard, if he stays focused, maybe, just maybe, he’ll be the next big thing. Maybe he’ll be the one to beat them old-timers, to make a name for himself. We’ll just have to wait and see. But I’m rootin’ for him, I am. He seems like a good kid, a hard worker. And that’s what matters, ain’t it?
Tennis ain’t just about hittin’ a ball over a net, it’s about grit, it’s about determination. It’s about gettin’ up every time you fall down. And that’s somethin’ I know a thing or two about, bein’ an old lady like me. Life knocks you down, but you gotta get back up. And this Zachary, he seems like the kind of fella who knows how to do just that. So, good luck to him, I say. Go get ’em, Zachary! Show them what you’re made of!
