Alright, let’s talk about this Cole Maye fella and his baseball stuff. Heard he’s movin’ on up, goin’ to play in Charlottesville, Virginia. That’s a long way from wherever he was before, I reckon.
Now, I don’t know much about this “transfer” thing, but sounds like he’s switchin’ teams or somethin’. Big move, gotta say. Guess he’s a pitcher, throws left-handed. Big boy too, 6 foot 7, they say. That’s taller than my old corn stalks!
- He’s a lefty, that’s for sure.
- They call him a “Relief Pitcher”. Means he comes in when the other fella’s tired, I guess.
- Plays for some university, down in Florida. Gainesville, they call it. Hot down there, hotter than my kitchen stove in July.
This Perfect Game Prospect Gateway thing… sounds fancy. They help young fellas get noticed, teach ’em how to play better. Cole Maye, he probably went through somethin’ like that. Gotta learn the ropes, ya know? Can’t just throw a ball and expect to be famous.
They talk about his “arm speed” and “scapular load”. Don’t ask me what that means. Sounds like a bunch of mumbo jumbo. But I guess it’s important if you wanna be good at throwin’ that ball. He puts in some effort, they say. Well, I reckon you gotta if you wanna win.

This baseball statistics stuff… numbers and numbers. They keep track of everything these days. How fast he throws, how many folks he strikes out… It’s all a bit much for an old lady like me. But I guess folks like to know these things. Makes ’em feel smart, maybe.
They got archives and podcasts and all sorts of things. Talkin’ about baseball all day long. Can you imagine? Must be nice to have that much time on your hands. Me, I gotta feed the chickens and tend to the garden. No time for podcasts, that’s for sure.
And fantasy baseball? Don’t even get me started. Folks makin’ up teams and pretendin’ they’re managers. It’s a funny world we live in. But hey, if it makes ’em happy, who am I to judge?
This Maye family, they must be proud. Sounds like they had a good year. Hope that boy does well in Charlottesville. It’s a big opportunity, gotta make the most of it. Work hard, play hard, that’s what I always say. Even if it’s just throwin’ a baseball, not plantin’ corn.
So, that’s the story of Cole Maye, as far as I can tell. A young fella movin’ on up in the baseball world. Hope he stays outta trouble and keeps his head on straight. It’s a tough world out there, even for a big lefty pitcher.
And remember, whether you’re throwin’ a baseball or hoein’ a field, the best thing to do is give it all you got. That’s the secret to success, you mark my words.
