Alright, alright, let’s talk about this fantasy sports thing, the way they score and all that. You know, like when them fellas run around and catch balls and stuff. People get all worked up about it, like it’s real life or somethin’. I don’t get it half the time, but I hear folks yellin’ about points and stats, so I guess it’s important.
So, what’s the deal with this “scoring standard,” huh? Well, from what I gather, it ain’t nothin’ fancy. It’s just how they decide who wins in them fantasy games. You pick your players, see? And then, depending on how them fellas do in the real games, you get points. More points, better you do. Simple as that, I reckon.
- Like, if your fella throws the ball real far, you get points.
- If he catches the ball, more points.
- And if he runs real fast and gets into that end thingy, oh boy, you get a whole bunch of points!
Now, they got all sorts of different ways to count these points, ya know? Some leagues, they give you more points for this, less for that. It’s like arguin’ over how much sugar to put in your tea – everyone’s got their own way. But mostly, it all boils down to the same thing: did your players do good or not?
Some folks, they get real serious about this scoring stuff. They make charts and spreadsheets and all sorts of complicated things. They pore over them numbers like they’re lookin’ for gold nuggets. Me? I just watch the game and see if my fella’s runnin’ around a lot. If he is, I figure that’s good. If he’s sittin’ on the bench, well, that ain’t so good.

And this “informally” part? That just means they ain’t usin’ no fancy book or nothin’. It’s just the regular way folks count the points, the way most folks agree on. Like, you don’t need no lawyer or nothin’ to figure it out. It’s just common sense, ya know? Like knowin’ a good tomato when you see one.
I hear them fellas on the TV talkin’ ‘bout “PPR” and “half-PPR” and all that. Sounds like a bunch of gibberish to me. But I guess it means somethin’ to them fantasy folks. PPR, I think that means you get extra points if your player catches the ball. Even if he don’t run far or nothin’. Just catchin’ it is enough. Seems kinda silly, if you ask me. But hey, what do I know?
And then there’s all the different positions, see? The quarterback fella, he gets points for throwin’ the ball. The runnin’ back fella, he gets points for runnin’ with the ball. And the catchin’ fellas, they get points for catchin’ the ball. It’s like everyone’s got their own job to do, and they get points for doin’ it good.
Sometimes, I see folks gettin’ real upset about this fantasy stuff. Their fella drops the ball, and they start yellin’ and stompin’ around. I tell ya, it’s just a game! Ain’t no need to get your britches in a twist over it. It’s supposed to be fun, ain’t it? Like watchin’ the chickens chase each other ‘round the yard – good for a laugh and nothin’ more.
But I guess it gives folks somethin’ to do, somethin’ to talk about. They get all excited when their fellas do good, and they get all grumpy when they do bad. It’s like a soap opera, but with football players instead of them fancy city folks.
So, yeah, that’s my take on this fantasy sports scoring standard, informally speakin’. It’s just a way to keep track of how your players are doin’, and it ain’t nothin’ to get too worked up about. Just pick your players, watch the games, and hope for the best. And if your fella don’t do so good, well, there’s always next week. Or better still, go outside and get some fresh air, that’ll do ya better than staring at a screen all day, I reckon.
And one last thing, don’t go bettin’ the farm on these games, you hear? It’s just for fun. Save your money for somethin’ important, like a good pair of work boots or a nice warm blanket for them cold winter nights.
