Alright, so you wanna know about this Disney soccer thing, huh? The Disney Soccer Showcase 2023. Sounds fancy, like somethin’ them city folks do. But lemme tell ya, it’s just a bunch of kids kickin’ a ball, only a whole lot more organized, ya know?
What is this Disney Soccer Showcase anyway?
Well, from what I hear, it’s a big deal soccer tournament. Kids come from all over, even from other countries, they say. All ages too, from the little whippersnappers to the almost-grown-up ones. They got the boys playin’ and the girls playin’, all separate like. And it ain’t just for fun, mind you. Them college coaches, they come watchin’ to see which kids they wanna snatch up for their teams.
Who gets to play in this thing?
Now, not just any Tom, Dick, or Harry can join. You gotta be on a real competitive team. Like, a team that’s good, real good. And they gotta apply and get accepted, see? It’s like gettin’ into a fancy school, but for soccer. They say there’s different age groups, like the under-15s, under-16s, all the way up to under-19s. And they got different levels too, like championship and premier. Sounds like a whole lot of fuss to me, but hey, if them kids like it, who am I to judge?
When and where does it all happen?
This Disney soccer shindig, it happens at different times for different folks. The boys, they play in December, right around Christmas time. From December 27th to 30th, to be exact, in 2023. They play down in Kissimmee, Florida. That’s near Disney World, ya know, where that Mickey Mouse fella lives. The girls, I think they have their own time to play, and then there are the little kids too, the junior ones. They play around Thanksgiving, end of November. So much soccer, my head’s spinnin’!
The Teams, Oh the Teams!
Now, about them teams that got accepted. That’s a whole other story. They got a whole list of ’em, but they don’t just hand it out to anybody. You gotta go lookin’ for it online. And it’s a long list, believe me. Teams from all over, different clubs, different ages. It’s like a whole big ol’ family reunion, only instead of eatin’ potato salad, they’re kickin’ soccer balls. They even got teams sorted by age and division, like the U15 Championship, U15 Premier, U16 Championship, you get the picture. It’s a lot to keep track of, I tell ya.
Why do they do it?
Well, I reckon them kids love playin’ soccer. And their parents, they probably love seein’ their kids do good. And them college coaches, they want the best players for their teams. So, everybody gets somethin’ out of it, I guess. It’s like a big ol’ circle of soccer madness. Plus, they get to go to Disney World, maybe see Mickey Mouse and all them other characters. That’s gotta be fun, even for a grumpy old lady like me.
What about the Junior Showcase?
Oh yeah, and there’s this Junior Showcase too. For the really young ones. They play around Thanksgiving, like I said. It’s the same idea, but with smaller kids. They say it’s a top-notch tournament, real well organized. Gives them little ones a chance to show off their skills, I guess. And who knows, maybe some of them will end up playing in the big showcase one day.
So, what’s the big deal?
Well, I guess it’s a big deal if you’re into soccer. It’s a chance for these kids to get noticed, to maybe go to college on a scholarship, to maybe even play professional soccer one day. It’s a lot of hard work and dedication, though. Not like my days, when we just played in the fields for fun. But times change, I suppose. And if them kids are happy, then that’s all that matters, right?
Anyways, that’s the gist of it. A big ol’ soccer tournament, lots of kids, lots of teams, lots of running around. If you wanna know more, you gotta go look it up yourself. I ain’t got all the answers, ya know. I’m just tellin’ ya what I heard.
