Well now, let me tell ya ’bout them boys from Minnesota who got picked in the 2024 NHL Draft. I reckon it’s a big deal, don’tcha know. They had that draft all the way out in Las Vegas, Nevada, on the 28th and 29th of June. I hear it was quite the show, all them young fellas gettin’ their names called. Now, they say eleven Minnesotans got picked this year—ain’t that somethin’?
Now, the second round was where the Minnesotans really started poppin’ up. First off, there was Adam Kleber, a fella who came from Chaska and Chanhassen. He grew up around here, playin’ hockey and workin’ hard on the ice. I reckon that boy’s been dreamin’ of this day since he could skate, and now here he is, all the way up in the big leagues. He went 42nd overall, so you know he’s got some real skill to him.
Then came Max Plante, from good ol’ Hermantown. That boy’s always had a good name in these parts for his hockey skills. He was picked right after Adam, and I tell ya, folks around here are mighty proud of him. After Max, there was Colin Ralph from Osseo-Maple Grove. Now, I don’t know much about him, but I do know people around here talk about him like he’s got the heart of a lion. They say he’s a fighter on the ice, and you sure can’t go wrong with that kind of spirit.
Last of ’em in that second round was Will Skahan from Woodbury. Now, Will, he’s always been a name folks mentioned when they talked about up-and-coming players. I reckon he’s a fine young man with a bright future ahead of him. I hear he’s got that mix of grit and finesse that makes a good hockey player—if you ask me, he’ll fit right in with the pros.
Now, I don’t know all the fancy terms they use for hockey, but what I do know is that these boys from Minnesota, they got somethin’ special in ‘em. They’ve worked hard for this, and I’m mighty glad to see ‘em makin’ their way to the NHL. I reckon folks around the state are gonna be watchin’ these games with a whole lotta pride, rootin’ for the boys they watched grow up.
The Minnesota Wild, they sure did their part in the draft too. They picked six players during them two days in Vegas. I don’t know if they’re from Minnesota, but you can bet I’ll be watchin’ to see how they do. They’ve got a lot of potential, that’s for sure. And with the way the draft went this year, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more Minnesotans comin’ up in the future. The way these kids are playin’, it seems like the future of hockey in Minnesota is bright.
I hear there was also some real good talent from the University of Minnesota, too. Brodie Ziemer, John Whipple, and Erik Phlsson, they’re all fresh outta college and headin’ to bigger things. I reckon we’ll be hearin’ their names a lot more in the years to come. Ain’t it somethin’, seein’ all these young fellas from Minnesota makin’ their mark? Makes you proud, it does.
All in all, I’d say this 2024 draft was one for the history books. There’s a lot of excitement in the air, and who knows? Maybe one of these boys will be the next big star in the NHL. All I know is, I’ll be watchin’ every game I can, rootin’ for them Minnesotans like I always do.
